This week, the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes host UCLA in what very much looks like a business night game for the Buckeyes — but business doesn’t mean complacency. Below are three bold predictions that we believe will happen when Ohio State takes the field at Ohio Stadium.
1. Julian Sayin throws for 350+ yards and at least 3 touchdowns.
Sayin has been dialed in all season and now faces a UCLA defense that ranks near the bottom nationally in stopping explosive plays. With Carnell Tate trending toward return and Jeremiah Smith in midseason form, Ohio State’s passing attack is poised to shine. Expect Sayin to open fast, find rhythm early, and push the yardage total well past 300 while delivering multiple scores.
2. Bo Jackson breaks 100 rushing yards and finds the end zone.
Despite Ohio State’s aerial prowess, the ground game still looms as a key piece in championship-mode preparation. UCLA’s run defense is ranked among the worst nationally in rushing success rate allowed. This sets up Jackson perfectly — a back with burst, patience, and a plan. He gets the crack, the daylight opens, and the Buckeyes lean into the run to dominate time-of-possession and wear down the Bruins.
3. Ohio State wins the turnover margin by +2 or more.
Turnovers have become a hallmark of this Buckeye season: always prepared, always opportunistic. UCLA’s offense, with transfer QB Nico Iamaleava and a line that’s been inconsistent under pressure, gives up sacks and hurried throws. Combine that with Ohio State’s defense that rarely gives up big plays, and you’ve got the setup for at least two takeaways — one likely in the red zone, another through return or pressure-forced mistake.
These aren’t cautious predictions. They’re optimistic bets on how a dominant Ohio State team handles what should be a dominant day. If the Buckeyes execute, they set the tone for November and move closer to the finish line with purpose.e three predictions, the message will resound loud and clear: they’re the team everyone else is chasing.
