If you haven’t heard already, Netflix released a new documentary today called Sign Stealer, which is about the sign stealing scandal about Connor Stallions, who was dismissed from the Michigan football team in October of 2023.

Buckeye fans have been following this story closely, especially now that the NCAA has sent their notice of allegations to Michigan on Sunday earlier this week based on the investigation around what Connor Stallions did, and how many of the former and current coaches were involved, including Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore.

It is very clear from the documentary that Connor Stallions is a fan of Michigan and wanted to do anything he could to shift the tide in the series against Ohio State. He gets his first start as a student coach during the Ohio State versus Navy game in 2014 as a student coach for Navy, where he was assigned the task of deciphering the signals. He talks about how he would look at which signaler the players would look at and try and match scheme. After he graduated from Navy, he got his start as a Michigan “staffer” during 2017 season, and was unpaid, but he would fly to different Michigan games while stationed in California and pay out of pocket to assist in deciphering signals for Michigan.

Connor described how he started watching just game film, but then started to work with friends and former naval academy classmates to help decipher signals during games on the sideline. It helped him become a full time staff member starting in the 2021 season.

It is definitely worth a watch if you want to see the drama unfold, but I would say these clips posted from the series just help paint the picture that Connor was the center of this process, and every coach knew despite all of the staff denying they had any involvement.
