Buckeyes hold at 2 in Polls ahead of The Game
The Buckeyes defeated Indiana 38-15, and moved to 10-1 for the season as they prepare the face “That Team Up North” for the final regular season game. Michigan defeated Northwestern 50-7 to move to bowl eligibility and will enter Columbus with a 6-5 record. The defensing National Champions might be down this year, but we know that when it comes to the rivalry, you can throw the records out of the window. Ohio State remained in second place in both AP and Coaches Polls.
The Buckeyes were lucky that they were not one of the teams hit with the upset bug. Around the country, there were several ranked teams that were defeated by lower ranked or unranked teams. We can almost guarantee that Ole Miss and Alabama will be out of the playoff after both got their third loss as they lost to Florida and Oklahoma respectively. Arizona State defeated BYU and moved themselves closer to playing in the Big 12 Championship game. Colorado, who were on a 6 game win streak, lost on the road to Kansas who is getting healthy and playing their best football.
We are noe left though with 1 undefeated team in the country with Oregon, who was off this week. Indiana lost to the Bucks, and Notre Dame handled Army in Yankee Stadium. Penn State had a small scare against Minnesota, but won 26-25 to all but lock their spot in the playoff. Indiana and Penn State are rooting for Ohio State to lose this weekend in order to try and get a spot in the Big Ten Championship against Oregon, who was announced as a lock for the game due to the tie-breaker scenarios.
With 1 week left of the regular season, and championship week, this season is closing quick, and the Buckeyes just need to keep winning to keep all of their goals alive.
Other Big 10 schools ranked this week are Oregon (1st in both Polls), Penn State (4th in both Polls), Indiana (10th in both Polls), and Illinois (22nd in AP poll, and 25th in Coaches Poll).
