Bold Predictions: Washington

Ohio State is rested, ranked No. 1, and rolling into Seattle for its first true road test of the season. The Huskies will be hungry to pull off a program-defining upset, but the Buckeyes have a chance to make a statement under the lights. Here are five bold predictions for Saturday night:

1. Julian Sayin throws for 400+ yards

The freshman has already logged back-to-back 300-yard games, and coming off a bye week, Ryan Day will unleash Sayin against a Washington defense that has been vulnerable through the air. With Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Inniss all in rhythm, expect the Buckeyes to test the secondary deep and often.

2. Jeremiah Smith records 200 yards and 2 TDs

Smith continues to look like the best receiver in college football. Washington will try to bracket him, but his ability to win one-on-one downfield is too much. After becoming the fastest Buckeye to 1,500 yards in program history, he takes another leap with a career day in a hostile environment.

3. The defense scores a touchdown

The Buckeye defense has been opportunistic, and Washington’s young quarterback will face relentless pressure from Caleb Downs, Caden Curry, and the linebacker corps. Look for a pick-six or a scoop-and-score to flip momentum and silence Husky Stadium.

4. Bo Jackson breaks a long one

Ohio State’s ground game has been quietly efficient, with Jackson averaging over 12 yards per carry against Ohio. Against Washington, he’ll pop a run of 50+ yards to give balance to the offense and keep the Huskies guessing.

5. Buckeyes pull away late — double-digit win

Washington will throw its best punch early, but Ohio State’s depth and explosiveness will be too much to contain over four quarters. Sayin’s poise combined with a fast, disciplined defense leads to a decisive victory.t up a dominant score margin. A 35+ point win while resting starters in the latter half feels very plausible.
