Buckeyes Secure Guard Commitment from Portal
Following a strong sophomore season at California, guard Justin Pippen—son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen—has committed to Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball, joining head coach Jake Diebler for the 2026–27 season with two years of eligibility remaining.
After beginning his career at Michigan, Pippen emerged as a key contributor at Cal, averaging 14.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds while starting all 32 games. He became a focal point of the offense and was a critical piece on the defensive end, finishing third in the ACC in steals.
At 6-foot-3, Pippen brings size, length, and versatility, thriving as an aggressive guard who can operate both on and off the ball. He consistently attacks the paint and finishes effectively at the rim, though improving his shooting efficiency (37% FG, 32.7% 3PT) will be key to his continued development.
As Ohio State reshapes its backcourt, Pippen projects as a valuable rotational piece, likely providing scoring punch and depth at both guard spots as the Buckeyes continue to build their roster in an effort to not only contend in the Big Ten but make a deeper post season run.
