Buckeyes Blow Multiple Double-Digit Leads, Survive in OT

Ohio State got off to a fast start, scoring the first 10 points of the game, but saw that lead slip before regaining control with an 11-point advantage early in the second half. Minnesota battled back and nearly stole the game on the final possession, but the Buckeyes seized control in overtime to defeat the visiting Gophers 82–74. Ohio State improves to 13–5 overall and 5–3 in the Big Ten, while Minnesota drops its fourth straight, falling to 10–9 and 3–5 in conference play.

Under the lights on Homecoming, No. 1 Ohio State delivered its most complete performance of the season. What began with a long Minnesota march and an early field goal quickly turned into a Buckeye avalanche: explosive shot plays, a locked-in Julian Sayin, and a Silver Bullets defense that squeezed the life out of the Gophers. By night’s end, it was 42–3 and the Shoe felt like a coronation—Ohio State is 5–0 (2–0 Big Ten) and very much playing like the nation’s top team.

The Buckeyes’ defense has been dominant through four games, and now Julian Sayin and the offense get a chance to take another step forward against Minnesota.
