Ohio State Moves to Third in Both Polls

The Buckeyes defeated Penn State on Saturday in a must win game in order to keep their playoff and Big Ten Championship chances alive. With the win, they took over the 3rd ranked spot in both polls, and are closing the gap with Georgia for number 2 overall. The Oregon Ducks took care of business against Michigan on the road, winning 38-17. The Ducks have all but one first place vote in the Coaches poll, and all first place votes in the AP Poll.

There were a lot of upsets that happened this week, including losses to Texas A&M, Clemson, Pitt, and Kansas State. Indiana trailed for the first time this year against Michigan State, 10-0, but took over the game and remained undefeated.

This is the last weekend the polls have impact on the rankings, as Tuesday will be the first College Football Playoff rankings. As a reminder, we will roll out our own poll and projected playoff bracket based on the new rules. With the way it is shaping up, Ohio State is expected to be the 5 seed, which is the highest at large spot outside of the top 4 conference champions, who earn a first round bye.

Big Ten teams ranked this week are Oregon (1st in both polls), Penn State (6th in the AP, 7th in the Coaches), and Indiana (8th in AP poll, 10 in Coaches poll).
